Nurse Leadership Institute of Virginia (NLI)
The mission of the NLI is to inspire, teach and empower nurse managers to grow as leaders and to become catalysts for change through a series of on-site retreats, a practicum project and relationships with nurse leaders serving as preceptors or faculty. The NLI was created in 2005 in collaboration with nurse leaders from across the Commonwealth to address nursing workforce shortages by improving recruitment and retention of nurse managers. Initial funding included support from RMHF as well as other regional foundations and a two-year matching grant from the Robert Wood Johnson / Northwest Health Foundations’ Partners Investing In Nursing’s Future program. In 2009 the NLI became a direct program of RMHF.
