Capacity-building grants empower organizations to develop their internal capacity to become more sustainable and effective over the long term. RMHF is awarding $1,500-$15,000 grants on a rolling basis to mission-aligned nonprofits.

Opportunity Investments

The past few years have brought an overwhelming amount of unforeseen change, and we recognize that organizations often need to respond quickly to urgent and unexpected challenges and opportunities. RMHF is awarding $1,000-$7,500 grants on a rolling basis to mission-aligned nonprofits for projects, events, or initiatives that will be completed within a 3-month time frame.

Safety is essential for a healthy community. In recent years, we’ve seen an uptick in community violence and associated trauma, which disproportionately affects people of color. As an organization committed to fostering an equitable and healthy Richmond region, we seek to promote community safety and healing.

What does it mean to be “mission-aligned”?

Based on our own mission of “fostering an equitable and healthy Richmond region,” the core work of mission-aligned organizations:

Advances health and racial equity.

Embodies an understanding of the social determinants of health.

Impacts those most affected by inequities.

In addition, we will give priority to organizations that show evidence of internal work at the Board and staff levels to advance Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

We will open the grant process for general operating support in early 2024.
