General Operating Support Grants

As a part of commitment to strengthening partnerships and supporting ongoing efforts in alignment with our Strategic Framework, we are inviting our current, multi-year GOS partners to apply for additional resources. This will provide additional time for them to build on their momentum, improve strategic planning and financial resilience, navigate uncertainties, and increase the effectiveness of their programs.

RMHF will not release an open RFP for 2024 multi-year GOS at this time. Additionally, as we have endeavored to provide critical support for mission-aligned organizations, we have deployed all available funding for both capacity building and opportunity grants this fiscal year. These resources have made it possible for partners to increase their internal staffing and address urgent, unexpected challenges. We are not accepting grant applications at this time. We announce new grant opportunities through our newsletter. Please subscribe for updates.

Capacity Building

Capacity Building

Capacity-building grants empower organizations to develop their internal capacity to become more sustainable and effective over the long term. Capacity-building needs look different across organizations as they are identified by the people that are closest to the challenges of the organization and communities they support. Building-capacity can range from developing stronger governance to improving management systems.

Opportunity Investments

Opportunity Investments

The past few years have brought an overwhelming amount of unforeseen change, and we recognize that organizations often need to respond quickly to urgent and unexpected challenges and opportunities. RMHF has awarded grants to mission-aligned nonprofits for projects, events, or initiatives that were completed within a 3-month time frame.

As we have endeavored to provide critical support for mission-aligned organizations, we have deployed all available funding for both capacity building and opportunity grants this fiscal year. These resources have made it possible for partners to increase their internal staffing and address urgent, unexpected challenges.

We are not accepting grant applications at this time. We announce new grant opportunities through our newsletter.

What does it mean to be “mission-aligned”?

Based on our own mission of “fostering an equitable and healthy Richmond region,” the core work of mission-aligned organizations:

Advances health and racial equity.

Embodies an understanding of the social determinants of health.

Impacts those most affected by inequities.

In addition, we will give priority to organizations that show evidence of internal work at the Board and staff levels to advance Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
