RMHF Invites the Richmond Region to Nominate New Board of Trustees Members

February 19, 2026

Richmond Memorial Health Foundation (RMHF) is committed to working with local nonprofit partners to expand health and racial/ethnic equity across the Richmond region. To continue carrying out this transformative mission, RMHF has begun the process of adding to its Board of Trustees. We are seeking up to four community-minded individuals to join our diverse, inclusive, and dedicated RMHF Board.

As our Immediate Past Chair Abraham Segres shared:

“During my time as a member of the RMHF Board, my colleagues and I have found the work enjoyable, rewarding, challenging, and aligned with both our personal and professional commitment to health and racial/ethnic equity. If you approach this role with passion, tenacity, and integrity, you will find a shared satisfaction in what you accomplish and the impact you can have.”

Potential RMHF Trustees must have a connection to and passion for the Richmond region, a strong belief in expanding health and racial/ethnic equity, a firm commitment to responsible stewardship of both resources and relationships, and an eagerness to embrace bold solutions and new ideas. We are especially interested in new Trustees with experience in communications, government and policy, or those representing faith communities.

We are not a fundraising board, nor are we beholden to a family legacy or a donor base. This freedom allows us to speak plainly, to be transparent in our assessments, and to pursue innovative approaches to the challenges our communities face.

Ours is a courageous, volunteer Board, driven by a love of community and an abiding belief in our shared responsibility to accomplish big things to best serve those in need. Additionally, RMHF prioritizes building a Board that reflects the communities we serve. This includes seeking Trustees with diverse backgrounds, identities, lived experiences, skillsets, and a profound understanding of equity, inclusivity, and systemic barriers. We are also seeking generational diversity, with a focus on adding individuals younger than 40 and older than 60.

If you know someone who you think fits these criteria and you wish to nominate them, do so here. All nominations are due by March 31st. RMHF will consider applications between April and August, and final candidates will be contacted in the fall. All new Trustees will be announced by the end of 2026 and will officially begin their tenure in January of 2027.

The list of candidates will be kept on file with RMHF for potential future consideration. We do not allow self-nominations.

Thank you for your continued support of RMHF and our partners, and we look forward to receiving your nominations.
